Quilts Of Valor Foundation (QOVF) Executive Director

Job Description, Qualifications and Skills Set

Job Description (per QOVF Bylaws/QOVF Policy & Procedure (P&P)/P&P Appendices): The Executive Director (ED) is appointed by the Board of Directors (BOD), and serves under the direction of the BOD. The ED’s main role is the successful achievement of the mission of the QOV Foundation by:

  1. Implementing the goals of the Foundation as set by the Board of Directors. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  2. Communicating with the Board of Directors regarding activities at all levels within the Foundations. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  3. Providing direction for the operation of the Foundation to the Executive Staff, State Coordinators, Group Leaders and volunteer members. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  4. Communicating the standards, policies, and procedures of the Foundation to all member groups and members. (P&P section 4.2)
  5. In consultation with the Board of Directors and the Executive Staff, coordinating the delivery of the Foundation’s message. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  6. Monitoring the branding, use of the Foundation’s logo, and content of communications. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  7. Implementing the standards, policies, and procedures of the Foundation. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  8. Acting as an official spokesperson for QOVF. (P&P section 4.2)
  9. Serving as editor of the Foundation’s official newsletter. (Bylaws Section 8.08) (P&P section 4.2)
  10. Setting the example of professional behavior at all times. (Bylaws Section 8.08)  (P&P section 4.2)
  11. With regard to the Executive Staff, the Executive Director will take responsibility for recruitment, oversight and release of Executive Staff members. (P&P Appendix B.2)
  12. With regard to the Executive Staff, the Executive Director will ensure that an effective management team is in place. (P&P Appendix B.2)
  13. With regard to the Executive Staff, the Executive Director will develop, maintain and encourage open and effective communications with meaningful and appropriate feedback. (P&P Appendix B.2)
  14. With regard to budget and finance, the Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to maintain sound financial policies and communicate them to the Executive Staff, State Coordinators, and local groups. (P&P Appendix B.2)
  15. With regard to budget and finance, the Executive Director will work with volunteer staff, any paid staff, and the Board of Directors to develop effective budgets and oversee that the organization operates within budget. (P&P, Appendix B.2)

 

Qualifications and skill set:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years’ experience.
  2. At least three to five years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  3. Strong budget and fiscal management experience.
  4. Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to non-profit sector.
  5. Proficiency with computers and web-based business tools as well as web-based social networking applications.
  6. Strong organizational abilities including collaboration, planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  7. Public speaking experience preferred.

 

Salary:  $30,000-$45,000 commensurate with experience
