District Coordinator

I recently became a retiree from having been a Real Estate Paralegal/Billing Administrator & Accounting Specialist of a mid-sized law firm for almost 25 years. I am married and have one son.

When I was thinking about retiring and how I wanted to spend my time a dear friend (and fellow Tri Sigma sorority sister) suggested quilting. She encouraged me to learn quilting even though I had not touched a sewing machine since high school. I surprised myself with how quickly I jumped in and fully embraced the creativity and relaxation that quilting provided along with enjoying the camaraderie with other quilters. The quilt shop that I took introductory quilting classes at sponsors a Quilts of Valor group which I joined. The members of TLC Stars & Stripes were so welcoming. It is important to me to continue to give back through meaningful volunteering opportunities and being part of the Quilts of Valor family is fulfilling that passion for me. To receive much, you must give much!

My connection to the military starts close to home with my twin brother who is retired Coast Guard (having served 20 years following graduation from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy), my father who served in the Army and other family members and friends who are veterans. Becoming involved in Quilts of Valor was a way for me to honor veterans and continue to show my gratitude for their service and fill that niche of continuing to fill my need for doing something worthwhile and meaningful with my time.

I look forward to working with the Pennsylvania team in spreading the mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation for many years to come.
