I joined Quilts of Valor in 2014. My father was in WWII. My sons started out in ROTC AirForce. My oldest son is a pilot and has been deployed to Iraq, and Afghanistan. He was among the pilots who rescued people from Afghanistan when it fell. His younger brother joined the Air also and was trained in Avionics. He was stationed in Dover Delaware, where he ensured the planes could fly. He moved to National Guard where he does the same thing in Charlotte, North Carolina.
My husband and I are so proud of them. So my relationship with the military has been strong.
I was part of the initial group that formed Creative Piecers. I loved the social aspect of working with a group of dedicated women. I also love that we bring healing and peace to those who receive the quilts that we make. I am committed to seeing that all nominated Veterans receive the quilts that we make. In my working life, I was an Assistant Superintendent for our school system. I am good at organizing so I thought I would be the right person for the job. I am so excited to be part of this organization.
