I live in Spencer, Massachusetts with my husband George. We have four grown children and seven grandchildren.
Although I was taught to sew by my mother who was a seamstress by trade, I didn’t start making quilts until about twenty years ago. Now retired I am constantly at my sewing machine. The feel of fabric, coordinating of colors, and discovering new designs sometimes makes me feel like I can get “centered” again and brings me great pleasure. Shopping in fabric stores always makes me feel excited.
In 2010 I saw a small article about Quilts of Valor and began looking for a group in my area. I soon was able to join a group, just starting to get organized at the Charlton Sewing Center and have since been very busy and happy to be part of such an honorable mission. I love doing just about any parts of the quilt making process, from making kits, to sewing blocks, to sewing all the blocks together, quilting and of course I love binding.
My husband and family are extremely supportive of my involvement in the Quilts of Valor program and constantly give me lots if ideas on how to “spread the word” in this venture.
I am the Massachusetts Regional Coordinator and look forward to answering all you questions and assisting all with spreading the news about the Quilts of Valor Foundation.
