Rose Rhoads, born and raised in North Carolina, spent the first 20 married years of her life traveling around the world. It was difficult to have a career with all the moves but found gratifying work in finance and real estate. After a divorce, she
found the love of her life, Bill Rhoads, and they’ve been happy together for over 36 years. Before they moved to California in 2003, Rose was innkeeper at a lovely bed & breakfast in Tennessee.
Rose has been quilting since taking her first class in the 1980s. While living in Tennessee in the 90s, Rose went through Quilt Judging Training and went on to judge numerous county fairs and the Tenn. State Fair quilts. She began teaching a Beginner Quilting Class in her local Adult Education department there. When Rose and Bill moved to California, she immediately became involved in the local quilting community and started a club for quilters in Sun City, where they live. Around 2007 Rose organized a Quilts of Valor chapter in Sun City, Menifee Valley Quilting Angels, that has awarded hundreds of quilts to veterans and active duty “touched by war”. Her chapter was recognized in the 11th issue of Quiltfolk magazine on Southern California. Bill, retired US Army Ranger, is also a singer/songwriter and performs patriotic songs at ceremonies. In 2011 Rose became a Quilt In A Day certified teacher. She enjoys teaching QIAD patterns and also teaches a Beginners Class in Sun City. Encouraging new quilters and making Quilts of Valor are her passions.
