District Coordinator

I have been sewing since I was a teenager, learning to sew from my grandmother on her treadle machine.

I have been married for over 50 years and have one son and two grandchildren. Before I retired, I had been a school teacher for 34 years. I retired from that position in 2015 and since that time, I have joined one quilt guild and one group who was already established and sewing quilt tops. I have started a sewing group within of our local quilt shops who are making Quilts of Valor. I started working with Quilts of Valor about six years ago, volunteering to donate one or two quilts each year. After retiring, I became more involved with the organization and began awarding quilts to designated veterans.

I have been an active member of the Smocking Arts Guild of American for 10 years and donated gowns to several of our local hospital preemie units.

Working with the veterans and seeing their pleasure as they receive a quilt has been one of the most satisfying aspects of my life.
