QOV Presentations at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting and expo

While Quilts of Valor Foundation was at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting and expo in Washington, D.C., Quilts of Valor Foundation presented three QOV to Dr. Rory Cooper, CSM Jack Love, and General Robert Brown.

Dr. Rory Cooper’s QOV award presentation was during the AUSA forum Warfighter and Family Forum II: Transforming Combat Ready Care. This presentation was filmed during the Forum. To watch the presentation, click here. The QOV award presentation is from 1:40 to 8:25.

Dr. Rory A. Cooper is the founding director and VA senior research career scientist of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, which is a VA Rehabilitation R&D Center of Excellence in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh. Cooper has authored or co-authored over 400 peer-reviewed journal publications. He has 30 patents awarded or pending. He is the author of two books: “Rehabilitation Engineering Applied to Mobility and Manipulation” and “Wheelchair Selection and Configuration”, and co-editor of “An Introduction to Rehabilitation Engineering”, “Warrior Transition Leader: Medical Rehabilitation Handbook” and the award-winning book “Care of the Combat Amputee”. Dr. Cooper is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, as well as RESNA, IEEE, AIMBE and BMES. In October 2023, he was awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Biden, and he was inducted into the 50th class of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Dr. Cooper’s QOV was donated by the Stars and Stripes Olympia, WA  Group.  It was pieced by and quilted by Karen Fitzgerald.

Command Sergeant Major Jack Love received his QOV at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting and expo in Washington, D.C. He enlisted in the United States Army in January 1989 and has held numerous leadership positions during his 35 years of service. CSM Jack Love QOV was donated by the Stars and Stripes Olympia, WA Group.  It was pieced and quilted by Sydna Lefebvre.

The third QOV award presentation was for General Robert Brown (R). General Brown is currently the CEO & President of the Association of the United States Army. General Brown’s quilt was donated from the Stars and Stripes Group in Olympia, WA. It was pieced by Peggy Charlesworth and quilted by Neoma Burke.
