I am a retired Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with 15 years of experience in acute care, out- patient private practice and subacute rehabilitation. I am happy to say that I absolutely loved my job! When I am not quilting or organizing QOV for my group, I enjoy hiking with friends and our dogs, kayaking and travelling.
Shortly before I retired, I was introduced to Quilts of Valor by members of my quilt guild located in Southern New Jersey. During that time, my son was on his third deployment with the United States Marine Corps. Thinking this endeavor may help with my “mom jitters”, with the help of my sister and 2 friends, in 2011,we began making “Al Lind” string pieced blocks. Our group grew and so did our patterns. In 2012 we began awarding Quilts of Valor to veterans in our area as well as shipping QOVs to Destinations. In 2015 I attended the National Conference in Paducah and became New Jersey State Coordinator.
Late in 2015 my husband and I moved to Lewes, Delaware. I continued to represent New Jersey for 3 years. In 2018 I was asked to lead the Quilts of Valor project in the quilt guild I had recently joined. We are now Helping Hands of Delaware QOV and are enthusiastically supported by Helping Hands Quilt Guild in Dover, Delaware. I am humbled and honored to be involved with Quilts of Valor and it is especially meaningful to me to be in the Dover Air Force Base area. And we are still making Al Lind String Pieced Blocks.
