I could probably say that my close contact with Quilts of Valor probably started as early as 1975 when my husband graduated from college and returned to active duty. Basically it was 20 years of frequent moves until his retirement and during that time and after his retirement I continued to work in military hospitals in Neonatal Intensive Care at Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center / Walter Reed and raising two children. I retired in 2007 and having sewn all my life became involved with the Delaware State Coordinators making Quilts of Valor at their quarterly Sew Days and binding and doing long-arming for them. I saw it as a natural progression continuing to serve those who serve us. When Lennie and Laurel decided to step down in 2019 (they had been with Catherine since the start of Quilts of Valor) Dana Mason and I volunteered to become State Coordinators for Delaware. I am the Quilts of Valor point of contact for AFMAO. This is made easier for us because I have base access. I am a Midwesterner but tell people I have moved so many times I consider myself homeless.
