Under Our Wings Program

WELCOME!

Thank you for taking an interest in the Under Our Wings® program.  This exciting and important part of the Quilts of Valor® Foundation allows us more resources to bring young and old to the art of quilting while providing the satisfaction of community service.

Who can participate in an Under Our Wings program?

This program is designed to include youth and adult community service organizations that desire to do a community service project.  Examples of participating groups include:  Girl Scouts, Eagle Scouts, Future Farmers of America, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Purpose of the Program:

The Under Our Wings program is designed to honor our Service Members and Veterans touched by war by giving your community the opportunity to learn the art and skill of quilting, provide community service and learn about a local Service Member or Veteran.  Witnessing “The Moment” a Service Member or Veteran is wrapped in their Quilt of Valor is an additional honor the UOW members receive.

1

Choose a Group

Identify possible groups in your area that would be good candidates for an Under Our Wings® program and bring them onboard.

2

Build a Team

Meet with the group leader and discuss the program, secure a seasoned quilter to lead the program and secure a Mentor for your UOW Group.

3

Award a QOV

Stay in touch with the Mentor from the beginning through the Award Ceremony. Get the press involved. Enjoy the process!

Create an UNDER OUR WINGS Program®

The civic groups that participate will learn the pride of making and awarding a Quilt of Valor while completing a community service project and honoring a veteran or service member in their community.

Thank you for taking the step to begin an Under Our Wings program in your community!
