Allow me to introduce myself. My name is June Moore.
I grew up on a sheep and cattle ranch along the Columbia River in rural central Washington, where I waa raised to believe that I could be or do anything I set my mind to.
I am the proud mother of three successful, independent women and the grandmother of two young women who appear to be headed in that direction.
I have loved sewing and other needle arts since I was 9 years old. I have sewed everything from prom dresses to horseblankets. I had made occaisonal quilts through the years, and started making applique` quilts to decorate my classroom walls in 1991. In 2000 I was introduced to longarm quilting, and it became my passion. I began my longarm business in 2003.
I first volunteered for Quilts of Valor in January of 2005, then took over as Longarm/ Topper coordinator in October of that year. Since then Quilts of Valor has been a very large part of our lives.
For the last 29 years I have been married to my "true love" Mike, living only about 12 miles from where I grew up. I spent 28 years teaching chemistry, physics and math in high school and middle school and then retired from teaching at the end of the 2006 school year. Now I can spend my time quilting and working as a volunteer for the Quilts of Valor Foundation.
